StopWatch Theatre Company’s professional tour of Mark Wheeller’s play about Dan has got off to a fantastic start with incredible feedback from students and teachers.
The tour began on 23 January at Shirley High in Croydon, and visited eleven more schools and colleges over the next two weeks, being performed seventeen times to well over 3,000 young people. Another seven weeks to go! The talented StopWatch Theatre cast of Holly Ashman, Chris Dobson, Lucy Green and Ben O’Shea, working with director Julie Addy and producer (and StopWatch Founder) Adrian New, have between them created a powerful production with an effective interactive drugs education workshop to follow.
Feedback has consistently been incredibly positive, remarkably so for the start of a tour of a new play –
StopWatch "were fantastic - engaging, dynamic and energetic" (Head of Progress and Year 9, Edenham High)
Students were "really affected - intense focus and beautifully drawn in. Perfect for year 10. Utterly engaged." StopWatch were " beyond expectation.
Performances were powerful. Acting quality top notch...Would love this as part of our core curriculum for Year 10" (Assistant Principal, BRIT School)
"Quiet, respectful audience who were consumed by the acting and originality. Hit home. All absorbed." (Lecturer, East Surrey College)
"Year 10s amazingly responsive to play. Completely enthralled...Incredible performance. Brilliant game session (workshop). Very useful and left choices open to the students" (Head of PSHCE, Woodcote High)
"In 14 years of this school this has been the best performance I've seen" (Head of RS, Oasis Academy Coulsdon)
Really excited now about the publishing of the play by Bloomsbury in just a few days’ time on 9 Feb, and our special event at Southwark Cathedral to launch the book and premiere the play before a VIP audience. Watch this space for news to follow!
